| The Academy of the Company Theatre is celebrating its twentieth birthday this summer! One hundred eighty-five children and twenty-four teachers are participating in our summer workshops from June 25-July 13. Sixty-eight classes are taught everyday in every space of the theatre as well as in tents and on an outdoor stage. The session concludes with an all day Arts Festival on Saturday July 14.
The birthday celebration was kicked off by a spirited outdoor party for the staff on June 12 and continues throughout the three- week workshops with special events. Many ACT alumni have returned to be on the teaching staff of the summer workshops.
The Academy was founded in 1987 by Michael, Zoe and Jordie. Prior to being in our theatre, classes were held in Quincy - at Christ Church and at the Daniel Webster School, and briefly at the Codman Building in Rockland.
From an initial enrollment of fourteen students, ACT now has an annual enrollment of well over three hundred. Many of our alumni have chosen to continue participating in the local theatre scene while others have received degrees in theatre from prestigious theatre schools and are having careers as theatre professionals. In either case, ACT students are enriching the lives of our community and the world!
Happy Birthday ACT!
