TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE
(Sept. 18-21)
$20

Adapted from the best selling book, the play is the vivid, emotional and humorous story of writer Mitch Albom, who, after 16 years, is reunited with his ailing professor, Morrie Schwartz.
Mitch’s weekly visits with Morrie provide the ground for a deeply emotional drama, where valuable lessons of life are delivered with a generous dose of humor and an air of celebration.
Adapted into a stage play by author Mitch Albom and playwright Jeffrey Hatcher
What New York said about the off-Broadway production:
"Unforgettable! No matter how well you tell the story, the play makes it more vivid, more shattering, more humorous." -NY Magazine.
"A touching, life-affirming, deeply emotional drama with a generous dose of humor." -NY Daily News.
"I was unprepared for how moving and powerful TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE turned out to be·" -NY Post.
"You'll Laugh! You'll Cry!" -Variety.

Catching Up....
|
|
David Ingber ("Wizard of Oz," "Falsettos," " Footloose" ) is keeping busy with two projects at the Sage Theatre on 7th Avenue in New York this summer. They are:
|
"A Political Party"
Says David, "This is a show that I write and perform in. We like to think of it as "The Colbert Report" mixed with "Forbidden Broadway". We make fun of current events every week, with songs, scenes, late-night-style monologue jokes, with new material every week."
|
"God Loves My People Best"
As David tells it, "This is a musical (one act, 80 minutes long) for which I wrote book and lyrics and produced. It's like "12 Angry Men", but with really goofy and caricatured political leaders, all trapped in a room until they learn to get along. Original score by the amazingly talented Ben Green." |

Summer Session ACT
|
|
The Company Theatre buildings and grounds are buzzing with the creative activity of 187 students (ages 7-18) enjoying the 21st summer session of ACT (Academy of the Company Theatre).
A talented staff of professionals teaches almost seventy classes in acting, music, dance, art, cooking, set design, makeup and a variety of fun activities designed to spark creativity and build confidence.
In addition to the slate of classes there are daily theme days and noon time performances.
On Broadway Day, we were treated to a performance by Katherine Doherty (shown with Michael, Zoe, and Jordie). Katherine performed in the Company Theatre production of The Sound of Music, and went on to star in White Christmas at the Wang in Boston and then right to Broadway to star as Jane in the new production of Mary Poppins. Katherine sang three songs for the students and staff and answered a lot of great questions from the kids.
The next generation of theatre is alive and well at The Company Theatre! The summer session ends with a full day Arts Festival on July 12.
